Kindle Oasis (2019) review
The Kindle Oasis (2019) is launched by Amazon and it is another perfectly built ebook reader which is a refresh of the 2017 Kindle Oasis. This one is an expensive piece and comes with tons of new features that are useful and increases this gadget’s value. The popular Paperwhite of Amazon’s even doesn’t carry these features – especially, the auto-brightness, a new Warmth feature, auto-rotation, and dedicated page-turn buttons. More LEDs in the front light are also a great welcome which offers better reading experience in dark rooms. But, is this new Kindle Oasis worth its price? Let’s find it out in the Kindle Oasis (2019) review below:
Design and display
The new Kindle Oasis (2019) packs the same large 7-inch display but it is now having 25 LEDs in its front light. The number has doubled up as opposed to 12 in the Kindle Oasis (2017). The older lights were great and these ones are more great, I would say. This piece of gadget now comes with the auto-brightness adjustment. Unlike last time, Amazon has upped its game with the auto-brightness algorithm. Also, the new feature in the display is Warmth, which is similar to Night Sight. This helps in reducing eye strain and also offers better sleep and you can get these kinds of gadget online using cover it up coupons with great offers.
You can easily set the Warmth below the brightness setting and can also schedule Warmth so that it is automatically activated for a particular period of time. If you like reading before you go to bed and sleep, this feature is something you will love and appreciate.
There are no complaints about the display of this Oasis model. The only thing that could have been better in this device’s screen is that it is reflective. And, it could be a little annoying for you or the people around. Just a minor complaint and is not going to affect most people.
You get to see thick bezels on all sides of the screen and on one side, they are a lot thicker than the others. This bezel helps to accommodate the page-turn buttons and allows you to grip the device with one hand. But, it is still a bulky device.
The page-turn buttons are responsive and work well. At times, you just have to press the button twice or thrice to turn the page. The issue will be faced very rarely. The Oasis can be used with one hand when reading, and the auto-rotate feature is great too. Amazon’s Kindle Oasis (2019) has got the IPx8 rating for water resistance. On the top, you get a power button and a Micro-USB port is at the bottom. Not including the USB Type-C port is a bit of setback. If you are having other devices with Type-C ports, then carrying another micro-USB cable will hurt you.
Performance
Reading on this device for long hours, honestly telling, it is comfortable and you will put no strain on your eyes. The reading experience
has always been great on Amazon’s Kindle and it remains the same way with this device. You can select the fonts but you get nine options only which is very limited. The default one, Bookerly is best and you won’t feel any need to change it. The battery life on this device is great and you won’t be having any complaints about its battery life. A full charge of this device can keep the device alive for two weeks if you read for an hour every day.
The Kindle Oasis (2019) is available in two variants — 8GB Wi-Fi, and 32GB WI-Fi + Free 4G. The Kindle Oasis (2019) supports audiobooks via Amazon’s Audible service in the US, but it is not available in India. There are a few books which are available as part of Prime Reading ( Amazon Prime subscription) and you can get many more are available for less than Rs. 200. Also, all Kindle devices are not having support for the EPUB ebook format. And, it is the most popular file format for ebooks outside the Amazon ecosystem. You can get detail of Off Campus Jobs online from fresh hiring.
Final Verdict
Amazon’s Kindle Oasis 2019 model is fantastic for reading. But, prices? The Kindle Paperwhite has almost all of the Oasis’ must-have features and it comes at a lower price too. If the value is important to you – which must be – the Kindle Paperwhite or the Kindle (10th Gen) will be the better option for you. However, the Kindle Oasis 2019 comes with an excellent display, an IPx8 waterproof, and a decent battery life. The only things going against this gadget is its bulkiness and price. But, if you want a fully feature-loaded ebook reader for you and you are not having any price constraints, then the Kindle Oasis (2019) is the best one for you.
